John Adams

As Senior Planner and Feasibility Analyst for Land Strategies, Mr. Adams analyzes land use feasibility for potential projects, along with site plan design and subdivision layouts.

Mr. Adams has assisted in the feasibility study and site plan design of over 1,000 projects from small sites of less than one acre, to 4,000 acre master planned communities. This work includes a two phased approach of reviewing and documenting the various jurisdictional criteria as well as performing numerical yield analysis for the site based on complicated numerical models developed over many years of experience with actual projects.

By assembling and thoroughly analyzing research and graphical information from a variety of public and commercial sources, Mr. Adams is able to provide thorough and complete site assessment studies. He also aides in designing site plans and residential subdivision layouts from conceptual design through completion.

Mr. Adams also monitors amendments and additions to Municipal, County, State of Texas, and United States Land Development Regulations to ensure project compliance with all applicable requirements and codes. He has been involved with many changing ordinances such as ongoing changes associated with the Austin Land Development Code, the City of Georgetown’s Unified Development Code and the codes of other nearby cities, and analysis of major regulations arising in the various jurisdictions such as the Travis County Conservation Subdivision Ordinance and regulations published by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Using his years of experience and specialized training, Mr. Adams taught an undergraduate Environmental Analysis course at Baylor University, where he designed and implemented new land planning exercises emphasizing up-to-date planning concepts and techniques of analysis. He also assisted in site selection studies for Austin Community College and site suitability studies for St. Michael’s Academy. Other notable work includes keeping fully integrated and interactive records of development in large master-planned projects, including the Barton Creek Planned Unit Development, the Four Points Planned Unit Development. and Techridge/Center Park, and establishing a suitability criteria and development matrix that set the stage for the 1998 Master Plan for the City of Pflugerville, developed by Land Strategies, Inc.
