Throughout his time at the university, Mr. Butta conducted 5 years of design studios, where he focused on how the development of public spaces can serve as places for community interaction where connections between the built environment and the people that use them are created. While at Virginia Tech, Mr. Butta was active in the American Society of Landscape Architecture (ASLA) Virginia Tech Chapter. In 2009, his team placed first in the International Solar Decathlon and in 2011 was a finalist in the Freedom Park Design Competition in Arlington, Virginia. During his 4th year, Mr. Butta participated in an interdisciplinary study abroad program where he traveled to various cities in Italy, Switzerland, and Germany. Mr. Butta gained valuable experience relative to factors impacting urban park design and the importance of those public spaces to the well-being of the people that inhabit those areas.
Mr. Butta is currently focusing on specialization studies in Land Planning and Design, as well as Conceptual Design in his position at Land Strategies, Inc. Mr. Butta has a keen understanding of the inventory and analysis of natural, social, and cultural features that affect the design and implementation of communal spaces in the landscape.
Mr. Butta began working with Land Strategies Inc. in 2014. His duties include the preparation of Preliminary Plats and Site Development Permits, Conceptual Design Plans and Illustrations, Trail and Amenity Design as well as preparation of Landscape Architecture Plans, Elevations, Details, Construction Documents, Project Graphics, and Presentational Graphics. Mr. Butta has demonstrated his value to our firm and clients through his strong work ethic, willingness to learn and close attention to detail.
